The
Hidden Dangers And Health Hazards Of
NOT Having Access To A Skilled
Health Care Practitioner
Take a
minute or two and read this incredible account of what should
have been an avoidable health hazard. It’s a horrifying
scenario that actually happened to one of my patients. I
guarantee it will hold your attention.
A
young woman, living in the state of Missouri, at the time,
awoke one morning, got out of bed, put on a pair of slippers and walked
over to her bathroom to ready herself for the day. Little did she know
that a brown recluse spider – a violin spider - was lurking
inside of her right slipper. The spider probably crawled in during the
night and decided it was comfortable in the cool dark space inside the
slipper.
While
brushing her teeth the woman felt a slight itch on top of her
right foot but paid no attention to it. Within a few days the area
on top of her right foot became inflamed, alternating between an
itchy feeling and a dull pain.
After
the fourth day the pain had progressed to the point where she had
to take a strong dose of aspirin to sleep at night. After a week,
she awoke one morning to searing pain in her foot.
When
she looked down at her foot – to her shock and amazement –
she had a bulls eye pattern of concentric red and dark bluish
black circles permeating out from the spider bite, which showed as a
slightly raised black dot in the center.
In
addition to this manifestation, her foot had swollen to the size
of a football! Her pain was so great she cried out
in agony the entire day.
Her
boyfriend took her to the local community hospital’s emergency
room that evening. The ER Docs were baffled as to what
could be done.
One of
the Doctors suggested she immediately see a Toxicologist to
determine the extent of damage and what could be done about it.
The Doctor arranged through his office to have the woman see the
Toxicologist the next day. What the Toxicologist told her during the
examination at his office was not something she wanted to hear.
“Why
did you wait so long to see a Doctor about this?” He asked.
“I
didn’t think it was so bad at first. I thought it might have been a
bad mosquito bite. Then it did this.” Replied the woman, as she
looked down at her foot.
“Well,
this is the worst violin spider bite I’ve ever seen.” Responded
the Toxicologist.
“You
should’ve seen a Doctor before the venom from the spider
could do so much tissue damage. Do you have a family Doctor?” He
demanded.
“No, I
don’t. I haven’t been able to get in to see a Doctor for the past
year. That’s why I waited at home to see if my foot would get
better by itself.” She said.
The
Doctor shook his head while looking at her foot. He was looking directly
down at the foot but couldn’t see her toes. Incredibly,
the skin on her foot had extended out and literally overlapped
her toes.
He
remarked sternly. “I can’t see but one course of action here.”
“What’s that? Questioned the woman’s boyfriend.
The
Doctor looked the woman in the eyes and pronounced her sentence.
“If
you want to keep your foot I’ll need to cut away the flesh on the
top of your foot and I think we should take out your metatarsal bones.
I’m sure all of the tissue in those areas is completely dead
now and the bones compromised.”
Shocked
and speechless, the trembling young woman turned to her boyfriend
and asked.
“What
do you think I should do?”
Her
boyfriend shrugged his shoulders and just stared at her foot without
saying a word.
The
Toxicologist chimed in.
“Look,
you can’t let this thing get any worse or you’ll lose your entire
foot. Let’s get you scheduled for surgery the day after
tomorrow.
What
else could she do, she was trapped. They scheduled the surgery
and she went home. She called one of her best friends who happened to
know me. They talked about the entire ordeal and the woman asked her
friend if she knew of anyone who could help her without cutting away
half of her foot.
Her
friend immediately told her about my Alternative Medicine
practice and had her call me. After hearing what happened to her, I
suggested the woman postpone the surgery for exactly one week. I
told her it would be a gamble, but if she wanted to keep her foot
intact, it was a bet she’d have to take.
She
agreed and called the Toxicologist to call off the surgery until
further notice.
Long
story short:.. I suggested a natural remedy for her to take,
available at most reputable health stores in every state, for a total
cost of under $10. After getting hold of the remedy, she began
taking it the next day, as instructed. It took all of three short
days to counteract the spider venom, reverse her symptoms
and restore her foot to normal size and function.
The
only telltale signs of her complication was a scaly section
of skin the size of a dime, where the spider bit her and a
dull soreness throughout her foot. After a week the scaly
scab was almost invisible and the soreness was completely
gone.
I’ll
bet you’re wondering what she took to counteract the spider bite
and escape surgery. Telling you that would have little to do
with why I’m relating this story to you. But I’ll tell you anyway.
I
instructed the woman to take the homeopathically potentized extract
of a rattlesnake’s venom. Once in her blood stream, it quickly
sought out and broke down the toxic compound of the
spider’s venom – rendering it inert and harmless.
Here’s
an example of a happy ending that could have gone south quickly
if a patient’s friend hadn’t referred her to me for care. It’s
not that my mojo or medicine is more powerful than the Toxicologist.
The
point is that the woman was able to consult with me – an
Alternative Medicine Practitioner – about a Primary Care health issue
that could have turned ugly fast.
Let’s
suppose the woman could have gotten in to see a traditional
Primary Care Family Doctor when the spider first bit her. At the very
least, the Doctor could have begun treating the woman on the spot
or referred her to a Specialist treating venomous bites.
Because she was unable to get in to see a Primary Care Provider,
she allowed her complication to develop into a potentially
hazardous situation that could have dramatically changed her life
for the worse.
Frankly, my observations and research indicate this is what most of
us tend to do... procrastinate when it comes to safeguarding
our health.
Unfortunately, with a violin spider bite, or some other serious Primary
Care health issue, we often wait until a simple condition
develops into something serious, requiring the secondary
care of a Specialist. This is where the lack of Primary Care
Providers can be particularly dangerous.
Primary Care is supposed to be the gatekeeper, first line of defense
against uncomplicated illness and other basic health
issues.
When
you’re unable to get in to see a Primary Care Provider about a basic
health issue - and you decide to ‘let it go’ for now - the condition can
progress from an irritation to an inflammation to a
sub-acute state and finally, in many instances, to a chronic
or even degenerative condition requiring specialized care and
management.
As you
can see from the story I just told you, there are Alternative Medicine
Practitioners who can see you for many Primary Care health
issues. Do your homework and find out who these Practitioners
are. You’ll thank me for this bit of advice.
To
what lengths would YOU go to see a Primary Care Doctor?
A
woman living in Southern Colorado awoke one morning to a painful
abdomen, which she recognized as a recurrence of a persistent bladder
infection. She immediately contacted her local Primary Care Family
Doctor but was refused an office visit for six successive
attempts.
In
desperation she went to the local community hospital’s emergency
room. The hospital advised that she return to her Primary Care
Provider’s office where she belonged. Her Family Doctor
refused to see her again.
Disgusted
and emotionally spent, she drove to PHOENIX, ARIZONA, to
see a Primary Care Family Doctor she hadn’t been to in TEN YEARS.
Luckily the Doctor had agreed to see the woman for her painful
condition.
The
entire ordeal cost her $6,000.00 OUT OF POCKET!
The
dark side of America’s Primary Care Provider inaccessibility crisis
Disheartening…
Did you know that a
lot of children in this country are not allowed to play outside
after school or on weekends because the parents are scared to
death the kids will break a bone or get sick and need to
see a traditional Doctor?
Why is this a
problem, you might ask? Because the parents are too poor
to afford the Doctor bills and even when they can, it’s often
impossible to find a Pediatrician or Family Practitioner to
see their kids!
Outrageous…
An elderly New
Yorker in relatively good health suffered a minor stroke and was
admitted to a hospital. The hospital’s answer to his condition
was to do nothing but heavily medicate him without
considering any other possible mode of therapy or treatment such as
chelation therapy, Acupuncture, Chiropractic or fasting.
The man’s wife
consulted with an Alternative Medicine Practitioner about his condition.
The Practitioner suggested a few minor but apparently effective
biological treatments that could be administered to the man while
hospitalized.
The man was soon
sent to a long-term care facility where he began to make a rapid
recovery due to the introduction of the recommended alternative
medicine treatments. The medical Doctors discovered this and
advised his wife to discontinue the ‘quack’ treatments.
The Alternative
Medicine Practitioner who aided in the man’s initial, rapid
recovery was asked by the man’s wife to “let the REAL Doctors take
care of him.”
The REAL Doctors
immediately and recklessly increased his medications. The man’s
condition deteriorated rapidly. He developed infected bedsores,
extreme rheumatic complications and finally his kidneys
began to fail and death came within weeks.
Ridiculous…
An elderly
Midwestern woman with a serious heart condition was
refused medical care at her local community health center
because the front desk of the practice couldn’t find her
paperwork. It took a week to find her file.
The delay
resulted in the woman not being seen by a Medical Doctor at the
practice. Due to the seriousness of her situation, the woman was
compelled to visit her local hospital’s emergency room for
expensive consultation and treatment.
Don’t let a lack of knowledge about basic hygiene and
proper physiological function or about what your health care
Practitioners can and can’t do for you, turn your life
into a walking, breathing health hazard waiting to happen.
